Through hip-hop and popular culture, Minorities on the Move examines and deconstructs racial stereotypes, as well as the struggles and triumphs minorities continue to face. Throughout two weeks in the summer, students travel to various locations around the Des Moines area, holding adjoining classes at Drake University to reflect on their experiences, providing minority students with the chance to use and have their powerful voices heard in the community.
“Students have shown a noticeable change in enthusiasm and openness; they have brought up deeper conversations and shown a new level of confidence in expressing themselves and being who they are as individuals.”
